“Independency”


June 12. The day in which the annual celebration of our country’s Independence is commemorated by our fellow countrymen and women alike. The day in which everyone reminiscence the time in which our nation was given a right to be governed by no one else but our blood kin. But how did this day came to be? How did become the holiday we all know and celebrate?

 

Here’s a brief history on how the Independence Day of the Philippines became the holiday we all know and commemorate.

 

It all started back in 1565, when the Spainiards arrived in the Philippines and colonized the Filipinos. Their homes were taken away from us and they were introduced into new things such as religion and a new government system. Soon after their lives changed. For better, and for the worse. The Filipinos were discriminated upon. Social hierarchies soon became in place in the country. And some people weren’t able to pursue education because of poverty and discrimination. But all of that changed when Jose Rizal came into the picture and the Katipunan was formed by Andres Bonifacio. Because Rizal invoked the fire for revolution and Andres Bonifacio for creating a secret organization, and Emilio Aguinaldo for leading the revolutionary government during the War between the Spainiards and the Americans, Emilio Auginaldo was able to finally declare the Philippines “an independent nation” on June 12, 1898. But it wouldn’t be recognized as an independent country until July 4, 1946.

 

In short, the spaniards colonized and took control of the country and made changes throughout the ruling of the nation. Many Filipinos faced hardship like discrimination, poverty, etc. because of the changes that were made like social hierarchy, and probably more. But because of Jose Rizal, Andres Bonifacio, and Emilio Auginaldo, and all of the other people that supported the revolution, they were able to take back their country from the Spainiards, with a little help from the Americans.

“Christmas in the New Normal”

Christmas is the day where families and close relatives come together to celebrate the season and give gifts to those they love. But because of the COVID 19 Pandemic, these gatherings are not allowed for it can continue the spread of the virus. And so, in this blog, I will be talking about the cause of the of the Pandemic, the responses of the people about spending Christmas during this time, and the challenges it brought during the holiday.   As you all may know, the reason why we aren’t allowed to go to large gatherings like Christmas get togethers and/or visiting your relatives during the holiday is because of the aformentioned Corona Virus and the dangers it brings. COVID can and will spread if we do these things and we will be vulnerable to it if we do not follow and keep up-to-date with the health protocols that were published by DOH. “The Start of a New Year”

As Christmas day ends with new gifts and toys, so will the year, with laughter and joy. As everyone waits for the year to end, they think of what will come next, or what it will send. Will it be good or bad? Who knows! So it’s better to prepare for what it will hold. As we brace ourselves for the New Year to roll in, we will cherish the memories and friendships as it begins. In this blog I will be talking about the memories I made and what I think the New Year will bring.   I made a lot of memories this year, some memorable, some I wanna burn and throw it out because of pure embarrassment. But overall, if I were to go through the whole year again, I’d prolly do the same thing I did because if I had not made those decisions, I wouldn’t be the person I am today. And I hope that this year, 2022, I will become a better me than the me last year.
