Resilience of the Philippines

overcome

Hello! In today’s blog, I will be talking about the Resilience of the people of this country, what made Filipinos resilient, the challenges of Filipinos being resilient, and what do other people think of the resilience of Filipinos. Over the years, Filipinos have been facing so many adversities in this country. And as a fellow Filipino myself, I know how that feels. We’ve been facing typhoons, questionable actions by the ruler, killings, and many more. And as COVID arrives to the Philippines, the resilience of the Filipinos are being tested.

Even before COVID happened in the Philippines, the Filipinos were already resilient because of the ruling and what he did over the years. Ever since of Duterte’s ruling, many lives of Filipinos were lost to the “War on Drugs” act, human rights of Filipinos were threatened, police misconduct, ignorance of Filipino lives, and many more. And because of that, the resilience of the Filipinos are getting stronger. Now during the time of the Typhoon Ulysses, Filipinos were devastated by it and were asking where the president was during that time. And during that time, photos about this calamity went viral in social media and Filipinos tried and help those affected by it. But they refuse to over-exaggerate this act of resilience. They didn’t want to glorify this act of resilience because what was more needed was better help from the government. And that I agree with.

In conclusion, Filipinos didn’t want to glorify their resilience in social media because they needed more help from higher ups and not the attention of it. People were already resilient because of everything that happened over the years when Duterte became president. And during that time of presidency, it only grew stronger. A lot of live were lost, and livelihoods taken, but even so, we grew resilient. That the end of the blog! Thank you for reading it and stay safe everyone! ^w^

  2. Good day, Zuirich! Well-said, we must hold our government accountable, and I wholly agree that we mustn't over-romanticize resiliency. We need the government to take action in dire situations and not some unnecessary buzz on social media. Keep up the good work!
