Kannawidan on the Weekends
So to my surprise, Kannawidan isn't actually some sort of spell to cast on my enemies, but is actually a celebration for the separation of both Ilocos Sur, and Ilocos Norte. (Very much how I like my Oreos). It’s where people perform various activities such as folk dancing, traditional tribal rituals, singing, contests, and even cooking! From what I researched, it’s said that it’s their way of saying thanks to the Almighty for their blessings, a rich heritage province, and family. The reason though apart from what I said as to why they celebrate is so that Gen Z children will learn more and appreciate their culture and tradition and not Edward from the Twilight Saga (btw, do not watch!). They focus more on the children and encourage them to learn about indigenous songs and dances because Ilocano culture is not more apparent to them, but to TikTok dances and Addison Rae. This is why they do their very best in celebrating this festival.
In conclusion, I’ve been missing out on Kannawidan. People celebrate it to show their greatfulness to their God and encourage the Zoomers to appreaciate and learn more about their culture and traditions instead of anime waifus (#Rem). And people are able to show all this by performing dances, singing, and many more. This is ya boy signing out of this blog, buh-bye! >v0
(Don't take any of the jokes said seriously. I have a deep respect for this culture, it's all fun and games)
